OKAPI restaurant and bar is situated on Avenue de la justice Road in Kigali city, a place commonly known as Muhima. It’s half an hour’s drive from Kigali International Airport and five minutes’ drive from the city center.

It’s well decorated design of art and craft articles on the walls are undoubtedly memorable.

The Okapi bar and restaurant offers barbecue services on the terrace that gives a framework of discretion and perfect intimacy. It also offers Chinese dishes, European dishes, and Italian dishes.

The bar

The bar is fully stocked with white wines such as Chadonnay-Domaine berg on vine de, Sauvignon-domaine berg on vine de pays doc France and Red wines are Merlot-Domaine berg on vine de pays doc France, and cabernet sauvignon-Dom berg on vine de pays doc.

Fruit juices and syrups include citron presse, ananas, presse, nectar de maracuja, sirop de grenadine, menthe maracuja orange.

Gentile (jus d’dorange, sirop de menthey and grenadine), smile juice (jus d’dorage, maracuja, ananas sirop-de grenadine).

Local beer brands are available plus imported ones such as Bell Lager from Uganda. Ask for any soft drink and the polite waiters and waitresses will be at your service.

THE MENU

Cold starters: Mixed salads, Okapi salads, Mousse of Tun Vegetable, Cheese salad, Chicken salad, Avocado and fish Meat salad, Ham rolled with vegetable, and Stuffed Tomato.

Hot starters: Vegetable soup, Chicken soup, Onion tart, Fish que, Pancake au gratin with mushrooms, Pancake au gratin with vegetable, and Vegetables au gratin.

Chicken: Chicken boned in Porto sauce, Chicken boned in papri, Boiled chicken, mushrooms with sauce and yellow egg cream ka, Whole chicken with lemon juice, Boiled chicken, green pepper, mushroom Portuguese leg chicken, garlic, tomato and demy glace.

Petit dejeuner includes: Tea with fresh milk, Coffee, African tea, and Fresh Hot chocolate milk. Juice; Cook Suisse, Croissant, Brioche, Jam sandwich, Slice of bread and jam or honey Plain omelet, Ham omelets, Cheese omelets, Tomato omelets, and Spanish omelets.

Indian dishes: Malai kofata, Paneer tikka masala, Paneer kofata, Paneer korama, Mushroom curry, Corn cabsicum masala, Vegetable Kofata, Dal makhani, Mix Vegetable curry, China masala,   Aloo gobi and Dal fried

Rice and Eggs includes: Chicken Biryani, Mutton Biryani, Vegetable Pulla Jeera Rice, Rice steam and Egg curry and Eggs burgi respectively.

Fish from Rwandese lakes: Whole tilapia in tomato sauce, Tilapia filled with mushrooms, tomato, white wine cream, onions and shrimps, Tilapia fillet with provencial sauce, Fried tilapia fillet and Tilapia fillet with vegetable.

Fish from Lake Tanganyika: Sangala fillet with mushroom sauce, Sangala fillet au gratin with spinach, Captain Fillet with stragon sauce, Captain fillet with soja sauce and Captain fillet with tomato sauce. Other types include; Fish Biryani, Fish Masala, Fish Curry and Fish Coconut.

Meat: Steak with mush rooms and lemon juice in brown sauce, English escalope: fried pane,  Steak with mushroom sauce, Pork fillet with mustard sauce, English liver: fried liver on ham, onions, Beef liver with onion, Grilled fillet with red wine sauce, Roasting meat with mushrooms, Goat fillet sauté with butter & garlic, Pork chop dressed with cheese,  Grilled steak dressed with anchovy, Grilled fillet with maitre butter, mushrooms, grilled tomato, Escalope enrolled with ham & cheese and Grilled lamb maitre d’hotel.

Chef’s SP chicken full, half: Chicken butter, Chicken masala and Chicken curry. 

Fried goat’s meat: Fish buangiya, Chicken Wing, Vegetable buagiya, Corn fitter, Masala papadam, Vegetable Samosa, Goat’ Meat, Goat’s meat mungalai, Goat’s meat masala, Goat’s meat korama, and Goat’s meat curry.

Other services

They have a Conference room which accommodates over 50 people. The room can be re-arranged for cocktail party, dinner and wedding party. Security for customers is a guarantee.

A one roof service facility; a foreign exchange point, a laundry facility for customers, a car washing bar for customers, an internet café and MTN communication center which caters for all human daily needs.

The loos: are flashy type and clean with techno thermo facility that helps to dry the hands fro the loose.

Crowd: Customers and guests are mainly local business people from the city, others from Kampala, Dar-a-salaam, Kinshasa, Nairobi, Bujumbura and the prices are worth the services offered by dedicated stuff at Okapi Restaurant and bar and it stands out as one of the executive restaurants in the city with lowest charges.
