Azam Rwanda Premier League side Bugesera FC have completed the signing of striker Charles Mwesigye Tibingana from Thailand’s Uttaradit FC.

Along with former Marines FC midfielder Idrissa Niyitegeka, Tibingana penned a two-year contract for the Bugesera District-sponsored side on Tuesday.

The development was confirmed to Times Sport yesterday by the club’s Secretary General, Sam Karenzi.

"It’s a deal done now. Both Charles and Idrissa are our players and will be joining their new teammates in training on Wednesday (today). We believe their quality and experience in Rwandan football will add strength to the team,” said Karenzi.

Previously, Tibingana featured for APR and AS Kigali. He was part of the famous U17 Amavubi Starlets that represented the country and continent at the 2011 edition of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Mexico.

On his part, Niyitegeka had joined Rubavu-based Marines in August last year after spending two seasons with Kiyovu SC, since July 2015.

New season, new coach

After struggling with management issues in the 2017-18 campaign where they used five different coaches, the highest number of head coaches by any league side in a single season, Bugesera appointed former Police FC coach Innocent Seninga as their head coach ahead of the 2018-19 season – which starts on October 19.
