Guinea Vs Rwanda
Belgium-based duo of Rwanda internationals Djihad Bizimana and Salomon Nirisarike are expected to link up with their Amavubi teammates in Conakry on October 9 ahead of Rwanda’s AFCON Group ‘H’ qualifier against Guinea.
Vincent Mashami’s side will play away to Guinea in the first-leg on October 12 before hosting the return-leg clash at Kigali Stadium four days later.
Holding midfielder Bizimana plies his trade with Waasland-Beveren in Belgium Pro League while centre-back Nirisarike plays for AFC Tubize in the Belgian First Division B championship.
The two players have agreed to join Amavubi three days before the game due to their clubs’ busy schedules, Rwanda Football Association, Ferwafa, has confirmed.
The local football governing body also revealed that goalkeeper Olivier Kwizera (Free State Stars, South Africa), Simba SC duo of Meddie Kagere and skipper Haruna Niyonzima as well as Gor Mahia’s Jacques Tuyisenge will join Amavubi in residential camp by end of the week.
Striker Danny Usengimana (Tersana SC, Egypt) is already in camp with home-based players. They are at Golden Tulip Hotel in Nyamata, and train twice a day at Amahoro Stadium.
Amavubi kicked off intensive preparations on Monday and this run through October 8 when they will be departing for Conakry.
Rwanda is in Group H alongside former African champions Ivory Coast, Guinea and the Central African Republic.
After two match rounds, Guinea tops the group standings with six points, three points ahead of second and third-placed Ivory Coast and CAR.
Amavubi are at the bottom without a single point.
