Rwanda’s Junior Wasps are in for a tough task today as they chase for their first ever appearance in the Fifa U-20 World Cup set for this September in Egypt.

Rwanda winds up her Group A games at 3.30pm with a tough game against two-time champions Ghana at Amahoro National Stadium. Both sides are tied with four points after a win and draw from their first two games.

The Junior Wasps, fresh from a captivating 1-1 display against African giants Cameroon will definitely push for a win as they seek to qualify for the semi-finals.

Junior Wasps head coach Obradovic Tomislav has promised to go for an outright victory against Ghana, one of the most exciting sides in the championship.

"This will be a difficult game but we are ready for the challenge and it’s upon the players to make the most of their chances. We need to be very sharp in the attack and defence,” Tomislav said.

Tomislav is expected to stick to the side that played against Mali and Cameroon respectively.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s coach Sellas Tetteh said, "It will not be easy playing against Rwanda on its home soil and backed by home fans but my players are ready for the challenge”.

Rwanda needs to win against Ghana to not only progress to the semifinal of the African Youth Championship but to also earn a slot at this year’s World Youth Championship in Egypt.

Ghana’s last appearance in the Championship dates back in 2003 in Burkina Faso where they were knocked out at the group stage.

However, a draw would also do just fine for both sides provided Cameroon lose or draw against Mali in the other match that will be played concurrently at the Regional stadium.

Cameroon Coach Alain Wabo believes his players are well prepared to overcome Mali.

"We are focused and confident ahead of the Mali game,” Wabo said. His counterpart, Djibril Drame has however promised to give Cameroon a good run for their money.

"Mali must return home with a point so we can’t afford to lose this game,” Drame said.

Rwanda beat Mali 2-1 in the opener as Ghana played out a 1-all draw against Cameroon. In the second game, Rwanda played to a 1-all draw against Cameroon as Ghana whipped Mali 2-0.
