Cameroon’s captain Francois Beyokol praised the way Rwanda played in Wednesday’s group A match at Amahoro national stadium.

Despite all the pre-tournament hype surrounding the Cameroon team, Rwanda pulled off a well deserved 1-1 draw and Beyokol who plays for Canon Yaoundé admitted that Rwanda came hard on them and deserved their point.

"The Rwandan team played hard. They wanted to qualify today. It was a hard game but a 1-1 draw is not bad,” Beyokol said.

Meanwhile, Rwanda’s coach Obradovic Tomislav also saluted his team saying that they had played well considering the nature of the opposition.

"Today, Cameroon changed their tactics and made it difficult for us. But I still think that we played well and deserved a point,” the Croat noted.

Tomislav also highlighted that his major goal was to get to the semi-finals.

"Right now, what’s important is for us to get to the semi-finals. Once we are there, we can then think of winning the tournament,” he said.

A semi-final slot at the on-going African Youth Championship is all Rwanda needs to qualify for this year’s World Youth Championships in Egypt.
