Mali coach Djibril Drame has his eyes set on winning his team’s last group game against fellow West African Cameroon tomorrow at the Regional stadium, Nyamirambo.
Win, draw of lose, Mali is one of four teams most likely to be returning home after the group stages of the 16th African Youth Championship, Rwanda 2009 after losing both their first two games against Rwanda and Ghana.
However, Drame still see his glass as half full rather than half empty, "We have not managed to win the two matches against Rwanda and Ghana but we must return back home with at least a point.”
"I don’t care whether Cameroon want to qualify or not but we also still have a chance of qualifying for the World Youth Cup if Egypt qualifies from the other group.
"We’ve good football in the last two games despite our failure to utilize the several scoring chances,” Drame said, adding that the game against Cameroon is a must win for his team.
A win for Drame’s team would put them in position to play a specially arranged game to decide the fifth African team for the World Youth Championship if hosts Egypt qualifies for the semi-final in group B.
