MTN Rwanda has launched a new three month campaign ,dubbed ‘Izihirwe na MTN’ Celebration, which aims to reward its customers with over 600,000 prizes.
According to Desire Ruhinduka, the senior manager marketing operations, the prizes include free voice calls, free SMS and free data bundles, weekly and monthly gifts such as cash, TV sets, goats, speakers, phones, as well as restaurant and cinema vouchers.
The prizes also include cows, goats and 13 brand-new motorbikes.
The firm says that the new campaign to celebrate and reward its customers articulates their mission of improving customers’ lives.
Subscribers can opt to join the campaign for free by dialling*140*6# or sending an SMS with the number 20 to 2018.
"This is a celebration with customers since 1998 when MTN started to operate in Rwanda. In the next three months, we will reward customers with many prizes. The customers are only required to be active and stay using MTN network products and services. Every week we will be announcing those to get prizes. Some will get prizes via the phone and those with big prizes will be called by the number we have unveiled so that they get them,” said Ruhinduka.
But the officials cautioned customers to beware of possible scams during the period of the promotion.
Customers will only be contacted via the MTN official line 0784000000,” they said.
Redemption of prizes is free, and winners will not be asked to make any payments in cash or in kind.
Speaking at the launch in Kigali city centre, the MTN Rwanda’s Chief Marketing Officer, Richard Acheampong, said the campaign is a collective celebration.
"We are going to communities, villages, markets to celebrate with customers in the next three weeks and reward them with beautiful prizes,” he said.
"20 years ago, we made history when we became the first telecom in Rwanda. Our customers believed in our vision of creating Rwanda’s No.1 network. Today, we can celebrate our collective achievements together. We thank our customers for their unmatched support to our growth and for being with us throughout this journey. We do not take this loyalty for granted. Izihirwe with MTN is designed to celebrate our customers and to say, thank you Rwanda,” he said.
MTN maintained its commitment to continue investments in initiatives that positively change the lives of their customers.
MTN Rwanda is the market leader in the mobile telecommunications industry in Rwanda, in terms of revenue, while Airtel leads in terms of number of subscribers.
