The annual inter-primary schools athletics championship is on this weekend in Muhanga district of the Southern Province.

The championship will bring together primary schools at Provincial level from all districts of the country as well as Kigali City.

According to Aaron Rurangirwa, the Secretary General of Rwanda Schools’ Sports Federation (FRSS), the winning Province will walk away with a giant trophy on top of other small prizes for individual winners.

Rurangirwa noted that compared to other schools in the region Rwandan schools have greatly improved in sports and that the recent Kisumu event reflected this when five of the eight teams reached the semi finals of the region’s inter-school competition.
