Shortly after naming a baby gorilla at tomorrow’s gorilla naming ceremony – Kwita Izina - in Kinigi, Musanze, South African music duo Mafikizolo will head to Rubavu, in the Western Province, to entertain guests at the Kwita Izina Gala Dinner.
They will be the main performers at the dinner, to be hosted at the Lake Kivu Serena Hotel in Rubavu.
The duo arrived in the country this morning, and will travel to Kinigi in Musanze on Friday morning in time for the 13thannual gorilla naming ceremony.
A total of 23 baby gorillas born last year will be named at event. Mafikozolo will join the long list of international celebrities, world leaders and conservationists that have been shortlisted to name a baby gorilla.
They include former Mozambican and South African First Lady Madame Graca Machel, Senegalese-American singer and businessman Akon, former Arsenal FC and Cameroonian footballer legend Laureano Bisan Etamé-Mayer, and Zimbabwean businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist Strive Masiyiwa, among others.
Former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo is also on the list.
Gala dinner tickets are on sale at various sales points across the country, including RDB Sales and Reservations offices at Gishushu and Grand Pension Plaza, Kigali Convention Center, Kigali Serena Hotel, Lemigo Hotel, and Lake Kivu Serena Hotel Rubavu.
Tickets go for $120 (Rwf104,000) per person, while a table for ten goes for $1,000 (Rwf868,000).
The Kwita Izina Gala Dinner will also feature performances from Gakondo group and Inganzo Ngari.
