Nyirabarame comes 11th in Mumbai

Rwandan athlete Epiphanie Nyirabarame finished in 11th position in this year’s Standard Chartered Mumbai international marathon, which took place on Sunday in India.

Rwandan athlete Epiphanie Nyirabarame finished in 11th position in this year’s Standard Chartered Mumbai international marathon, which took place on Sunday in India.

According to officials of the local athletics federation, Nyirabarame clocked 2hrs and 45 minutes in the full women marathon race.

Ethiopia’s Haile Kebebush won the women’s event in 2hrs and 34 minutes. She was followed by fellow Ethiopian Martha Markos in 2hrs and 35 minutes. Kenyan Irene Magoka came in third in a time of 2hours and 37 minutes.

The men’s full marathon was dominated by Kenyans. Kenneth Mungara came first in 2hours and 11 minutes, followed by country men David Tarus and John Kelai in second and third positions respectively.

Kelai came to this year’s event looking for a hat trick of titles having won the previous two editions.
