Dear editor,
in your paper of yesterday, it was reported that the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) turned down a request by the School of Finance and Banking (SFB) to grant them structural facilities for private students.

Allow me through your paper to ask the management of KIST why they reached that decision.

It is common knowledge that government institutions of higher learning need to share certain facilities like libraries and even lecturers.

And KIST for this matter having been established earlier than SFB, it would have played the role of a mother institution- since the management faculty of SFB was even at KIST before.

Considering students’ demands, will the SFB private students who are now to study from a hall belonging to businessman Tribert Rujugiro, as reported, get the required facilities like their full time counterparts? 

I doubt whether the learning environment there will be conducive to facilitate learning.

Let KIST management come up openly to explain what influenced their stand because most people who have been there of recent, are aware that they have redundant rooms.

And in the stories reported earlier, SFB had even inspected the room they would use, meaning the KIST managers just made a U-turn at the last minute.
