Safe Gas Ltd has injected Rwf180m into Bugesera FC for the next five years.
The sponsorship will further be broken down in a monthly installment of three million Rwandan Francs.
"We want to see the level of partnerships of our club and the private sector increasing, the higher it goes and the little we will be required to put in from the district budget – the more sustainable the team will also get," the Mayor of Bugesera, Richard Mutabazi said.
This year, Safe Gas will give Bugesera FC Rwf36m – a little over a quarter of the club’s planned budget of Rwf142m for the 2018/2019 season.
The district will also sponsor the club to a tune of Rwf60m.
"We are happy to have Safe Gas on board as our partner. It’s a very bold contribution in the development of sports in our district,” Bugesera FC president, Jean Claude Gahigi said.
In an interview with Times Sport, the Managing Director of Safe Gas Ltd, Liban Mugabo, said they are determined to help Bugesera get financial stability and improve in performance.
As part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two parties, Bugesera FC will wear Safe Gas brand on their shirts in all their competitive matches, and will have the right to advertise their products at all the games that Bugesera will be hosting at Nyamata Grounds.
According to Safe Gas Ltd, the sponsorship will be increased upon increment of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LGP) sold in Bugesera.
Seninga pens one-year deal
In the meantime, Bugesera have signed Innocent Seninga as their new head coach on a one-year, renewable contract.
The former Police FC coach joins Bugesera FC from Musanze FC, and replaces Jimmy Ndizeye who only guided the club to the 11th position on the 16-team topflight league table last season.
In the 2017-18 campaign, Bugesera were managed by five different coaches the biggest number of head coaches by any league side in a single season.
The five coaches are Gilbert Yaounde Kanyankore, Ally Bizimungu, Maurice Maso Nshimiyimana, Thierry Hitimana, and Jimmy Ndizeye.
