Kigali party people are in for a treat with the first ever ‘Old School Party’ slated for August 31 at the Mirror Hotel, Nyarutarama.
The party, which is programmed to run every three months, carries an old school theme, taking people back in time.
Partygoers are required to respect the dress code which will be strictly old school, that is, mostly 80s and 90s fashion.
Assia Mutoni, the event’s organiser, toldThe New Times that the event aims at reminding people of the good old days.
"The party will be all about old school things. From how people used to dress, to the music. We request people to respect the theme. We also have musicians lined up to remind us of the music of past times, and people can request for an old school song to be performed live. It will really be a fantastic party and nobody can afford to miss,” she said.
Mutoni says the first edition is a test, and how people receive it will influence bringing renowned artistes to perform in the next editions.
"I am now in Tanzania and I am in contact with Saida Karoli to see if she can come for the next edition,” said Mutoni.
The party is expected to attract many celebrities from different areas of the showbiz industry.
There will also be a fashion show, where designers will showcase old school style.
Partygoers will be entertained by UMUT Arts, a local arts troupe which performs traditional dances and acting skits.
There will also be a red carpet and photoshoot for attendees and prizes are lined up for the best dressed individuals in old school fashion.
The red carpet session will be headlined by a ‘surprise’ DJ who will provide the greatest mix of old school music.
