After parting ways with Tanzania topflight league side Singida United, Amavubi right-back Michel Rusheshangoga is closing in on a second stint with Rwandan champions APR FC.

In an interview with Times Sport, the 24-year old confirmed that he is no longer a player for Singida, and revealed that he has held talks with APR officials to rejoin the league champions.

"I am looking for a team in Rwanda, I had talks with different clubs but having played for APR FC before, I wish to return to my former club.  I held talks with club management and chances are the deal may go through soon and I officially put on APR shirt again,” he said.

The Rwanda international moved to the Tanzanian side last year on a reported US$50,000 (around Rwf42.5m) fee for two years; but he has since struggled to be a regular in the starting line-up – and failed to impress his employers, according to reports from Tanzania.

Meanwhile, APR are yet to make any comment about the player’s expected return neither have they confirmed nor refuted holding talks with the player.

Pundits say Rusheshangoga’s return to the military side would be a ‘wise’ move since APR will be back to CAF Champions League next season. However, they also argue that it will be a tough choice for head coach Ljubomir ‘Ljupko’ Petrovic given the fact that Fitina Ombolenga is another player who has proved his quality in the same spot.

Since 2009, Rusheshangoga has featured for national football teams at all levels; U-17, U-20, U23 and the senior Amavubi team.

He was part of U17 Amavubi which played in the final of the 2011 Africa U-17 Youth Championships held in Kigali.

This booked them a ticket to the FIFA U17 World Cup 2011 in Mexico.
