The local volleyball governing body, FRVB, has confirmed there will be a circuit beach volleyball tournament on the shores of Lake Kivu in Rubavu District from September 8-9.
According to Christian Hatumimana, FRVB Executive Secretary, the annual event help players to keep fit and get ready for the new season.
He also revealed that the two-day tournament, at Palm Beach, is open to all and for a team to be allowed in, they have to pay Rwf 10,000 in registration fee.
The competition will have three categories namely; men, women, and veterans.
Last year, Olivier Ntagengwa and Patrick Kavalo Akumuntu the title in men’s professional category for a third year running after the duo beat Thierry Mugabo and Gadiel Muyuku in the final.
Ntagengwa and Kavalo took home Rwf200,000, while Mugabo and Muyuku got Rwf150, 000.
In the women category, two-time winners Charlotte Nzayisenga and Denyse Mutatsimpundu were too good for their opponents; Claudine Musanabageni and Belise Irakoze, whom they saw off in straight sets 2-0 (21-11 and 21-13) to lift the title.
