The Technical Director of Rwanda School Sports Federation (RSSF), Aaron Rurangirwa has tipped Rwandan teams to impress in this year’s East Africa’s post-primary games.

The regional multidisciplinary competitions get underway in Musanze District, Northern Province today and will run through August 20.

Rurangirwa told Sunday Sport that the Rwandan teams have been prepared well for the competitions and expect the home advantage to also contribute in winning titles in various disciplines.

"FEASSSA Games are an event we take very seriously, we have set a target to win at least six titles – challenging Kenya and Uganda for the top honors in different sports,” Rurangirwa said.

"We have to believe that we can make history with our young boys and girls by winning more medals. Instilling confidence and self-esteem in them is very important.” he added

This is the third time Rwanda is hosting the event in ten years.

The country also accommodated the annual games in 2008 and 2015.

This year’s edition will be contested by over 2600 young athletes from four regional countries namely; Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and hosts Rwanda.

For the first time, the ten-day competitions will also have primary schools – over 300 young athletes from Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda – competing in football, volleyball and netball.
