The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has slapped Rayon Sports with a $20,000 fine and handed three of their players suspension for three games in CAF Competitions.

Rayon Sports will play away to Kenyan champions Gor Mahia on August 19 and a home game against Tanzania’s Young Africans on August 29 without the services of midfielder Yannick Mukunzi, goalkeeper Kassim Nzayisenga, and striker Christ Mbondi.

The heavy sanctions came after the club was found guilty of violating the CAF Disciplinary Code and Statutes during the return-leg clash against USM Alger in Algeria, in a Group B fixture of the CAF Confederation Cup a fortnight ago.

The jury of disciplinary committee in CAF, fined Rayon Sports to pay $10,000 for Mukunzi, $5,000 for Mbondi and another $5,000 for goalie Ndayisenga for what CAF described as "regrettable behaviors” during their 1-all draw with USM Alger.

According to statement from the continental football governing body, Rayon have to pay the fines within 60 days.

In February this year, CAF also slapped Rayon Sports a $15,000 fine and a two-year ban from football activities to four of the club officials.

The suspended officials are Patrick Rukundo, Shaffy Mudaheranwa, Jean Paul Nkusi and Prosper Muhirwa.

The eight-time Rwandan champions are yet to win a game in the group stage of Africa’s second biggest club competition. They have lost once and recorded three draws.
