Rayon Sports skipper Thierry Manzi has called on his teammates to remain ‘grounded and focused’ as they gear up for the Peace Cup final against Mukura on Sunday.

Rayon beat Sunrise 2-0 on Thursday to edge the Nyagatare-based side 3-2 on aggregate in the last four to book date with Mukura in Sunday’s highly anticipated clash at Kigali Stadium. The later eliminated holders APR in the other semi-final tie on Wednesday.

Whoever emerges the victor on Sunday, they will represent the country in CAF Confederation Cup next season, – Africa’s second biggest club competition.

Rayon Sports made history by becoming the first Rwandan team to reach the group stage of the competition this year.

"We have to give our very best against Mukura on Sunday (tomorrow), we will play the final with a killer’s instinct. We have a chance to get back to the continental stage next season, but everything depends on how the game goes – that’s why we can’t afford to mess it up,” the 24-year old told Saturday Sport on Friday.

Second-half goals from Olivier Seif Niyonzima and Kevin Muhire on Thursday were enough as Rayon Sports thumped Sunrise FC 2-0 to deny them a historic first Peace Cup final.

Niyonzima netted the opener in the 66th minute with a powerful strike outside the box before midfielder Muhire doubled the lead to seal the final berth for the 8-time Rwandan champions.

The Rwanda international further noted, "We need to face Mukura with vigor, determination and confidence. This is our most important game on domestic scene this season, whatever it takes, we have to be ready for it.”

While Roberto Oliveira’s Rayon are looking for their second Peace Cup title in three years, the Huye district-sponsored side, Mukura, are in the hunt for their first title in 28 years – since 1990.
