At the ongoing 2018 Rwanda International Trade Fair happening in Gikondo at the expo grounds, Banque Populaire du Rwanda (BPR) Atlas Mara stall has been one of the most visited points with many individuals signing up for the bank’s digital banking products.
BPR has been very keen in coming up with initiatives to support the government of Rwanda’s vision of becoming a cashless economy by 2020, with all government financial transactions done electronically.
Some of the Digital banking products being promoted by the bank at the exhibition include;
Internet Banking
In an era where people are very busy, there is no need to waste time in queues at the bank waiting for services.
With BPR’s state of the art Internet Banking platform, customers are able to directly access their account without physically going to the bank.
It may be used to instantly transfer money to BPR accounts, from BPR to other banks’ accounts, make standing orders, bulk payment like salaries, paying taxes and requesting for banking tools like Cheque books, receipt books and payment orders.
It doesn’t require much than having an active bank account with BPR whether for Rwandan Francs or any other foreign currency account and stepping to the nearest BPR branch to request for internet banking.
Mobile Banking
BPR Mobile Banking is yet another exciting platform that has many services delivered using a mobile phone. It gives the customers an alternative to transact more with their cell phone, either using the USSD way by dialing *150# and following the steps or by downloading the BPR mobile app from Play Store or App store.
It also enables clients to access their BPR accounts 24/7, on any type of phone. With BPR Mobile Banking, a client can directly have access to their account where they can check their balance, view a mini-statement, make instant inter-accounts transfer, transfer money to BPR accounts, transfer using Izi Cash, real-time transactions, transfer to E-wallets and paying for various services like RRA taxes, water bills, MTN postpaid bills purchase electricity and TV (dstv or startimes) subscriptions among others.
To access this service, a client is required to fill and register for the product.
Izi Cash
This platform allows clients to send money from a BPR account to someone’s phone who does not necessarily have an account in BPR.
BPR Izi Cash was conceived just to help customers send money to any mobile number operating in Rwanda and it’s withdrawn through BPR ATM network without using a debit card and the receiver doesn’t necessarily have to be BPR account holder.
A BPR registered Mobile banking customer sends money to a receiver with any mobile number, the sender discloses to the receiver the amount sent and shares with him a 5-digits cash out code. The receiver gets the second code in an SMS, which is then used to withdraw the money from a BPR Automated Teller Machine (ATM) without a debit card.
Push pull services
BPR push pull is a product designed for customers who have mobile E-wallets with telecom companies operating in Rwanda, MTN and Airtel-Tigo. With this product, clients can directly receive or transfer money from their BPR account to the E-wallets and vice versa. The customers eligible to use this platform must have an account in BPR as well as an E-wallet account with either MTN or Airtel-Tigo.
It is easy to link a mobile e-wallet with a BPR account, customers are required to simply dial *182# for MTN MOMO and *500# for Airtel-tigo cash.
Digital screens to access online banking services
BPR has availed big digital screens at its expo stand where both new and existing clients Visiting are educated on how to register and use the bank’s online banking services. Customers can as well enjoy free Wi-Fi given by the bank to transact digitally, they are also facilitated to download the mobile App and sign up for internet and mobile banking.
Customers who are using the lender’s digital services at the expo are also standing chances of walking away with amazing goodies courtesy of the bank. Other than the expo, customers can visit any BPR branch countrywide and sign up for these digital banking solutions at no cost.
