Since the deployment of Rwanda Security Forces in Cabo Delgado in July 2021, Rwandan forces were not only focusing on fighting the Islamic State-linked terrorists, but worked hard to stabilize the region and restore state authority.

In Palma and Mocimboa da Praia districts, Rwandan security forces and their Mozambican counterparts have enabled more than 130,000 people to return to their villages and carry on with their normal lives.

The New Times' photographer Olivier Mugwiza, who was one of journalists who visited Cabo Delgado to witness the progress of Rwanda's intervention, took different pictures that highlight the recovery of the region and the restoration of state authority. Through his lenses, the photographer chronicled the whole guided tour of the Palma and Mocimboa da Praia.
