APR thrash Police to reach Peace Cup semis

APR 3-0 Police (3-0 agg) APR FC humiliated Police 3-0 in the second-leg of their quarter-final tie at Amahoro Stadium yesterday to set date with hopefuls Mukura VS in semi-finals of the 2018 Peace Cup tournament. Imran Nshimiyimana scored the opening goal in the 28th minute with free header after a wonderful cross from Jean Claude Iranzi in the right flank. Right back Fitina Omborenga doubled the lead in the 44th while Andrew Buteera hit the third goal after ten minutes into second-half. The two sides had played out a goalless-all draw in first-leg last week at Kicukiro Stadium. The military side will meet Mukura in the round of last four, scheduled for August 3-9. The latter stormed the semi-finals on Monday after edging out Amagaju 1-0 in the last eight. Rayon Sports will face Sunrise in another two-legged semi-final tie. The first-leg fixtures of semi-finals are scheduled for August 3-4 while the return-leg games are to be played on August 8-9. The final and third place playoff are set for August 12. The 2018 Peace Cup winners will – along with league champions APR – will represent Rwanda in CAF competitions in 2019. Should the military side add Peace Cup to the league title they have already won, AS Kigali will play in the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup as Azam Rwanda Premier League’s first runners-up.
