APR women beat Police to maintain lead in V-ball league

Title hopefuls APR women Volleyball Club on Saturday defeated rivals Police women Volleyball club in three straight sets (3-0) to stay at the top in the ongoing volleyball league.

Held at Kimisagara Court, the game which took one hour and 20 minutes saw APR Women dominating Christian Hatumimana's side from the very beginning claiming the opening set 25-17.

Police women tried to fight back in the second set but Peter Kamasa’s girls proved too strong in defense and deliveries, winning the second set 25-22 and the third 25-23 to seal an important victory and achieve a revenge against the side that beat them in the first leg.

It was APR's third straight win against Police this season after beating them twice in Rutsindura Memorial Tournament, first in the group stages 3-1 and 3-0 in the final.

With the win, APR Women lead the table with 16 points, level on points with second-placed Police women while Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) women are in third place with 14 points.

RRA closed the gap at the top after beating East African University Rwanda (EAUR) 3-1.

Elsewhere, in men's category, Police VC beat Kepler VC 3-1 (25-14, 25-17, 21-25 and 25-23) and Kirehe lost to IPRC-Ngoma 0-3 (23-25, 14-25, 23-25) while Gisagara VC beat IPRC Musanze 3-0 (25-10, 25-15 and 25-23).
