The senior national sitting volleyball teams – men and women – will only have adventure stories to tell from their trip to the Netherlands after staging below par performances at the just-concluded 2018 World Sitting Volleyball Champions – from July 14-22.

The women’s team finished in 11th spot on the 16-team table while their men counterparts finished at the bottom of the table without recording a single victory.

Out of four games played during the world’s biggest sitting volleyball tournament, Jean Marie Nsengiyumva’s ladies won two and lost two.

Despite losing their first two games in Group A against Canada and Netherlands, the team bounced back to beat Croatia in the last group game before overcoming Finland in the 11th-12th position classification match.

Russia won the women’s crown after edging the United States in four (3-1) sets; 18-25, 27-25, 26-24, 26-24 respectively.

In the men’s category, Iran beat the 2014 world champions Bosnia and Herzegovina in straight sets; 25-18, 25-13 and 25-20 respectively to lift the title.

While Rwanda’s women’s team was making their debut in World Championships, Eric Gakwaya’s side was on global scene for a second time following the 2010 debut in the United States.
