Peace Cup: Ten-man Police hold APR as Sunrise and Mukura record victories

Friday Quarter-finals, first Leg Police      0-0    APR Sunrise    2-0    Bugesera Mukura   1-0     Amagaju It was a tight clash between former winners against holders as Police and archrivals APR shared goalless spoils in their quarter-finals’ first-leg on Friday at Kicukiro Stadium – in Peace Cup.

The return-leg and decider game will be played on Thursday next week with the aggregate winner progressing to the last four. Any draw, other than a goalless draw, will see Albert Joel Mphande’s Police FC ousting the league champions.

Both sides created several opportunities to break the deadlock in either half, but, all in vain. With one minute to stoppage time, Police center-back Fiston Munezero was shown a straight red for headbutting APR forward Muhadjiri Hakizimana. The former will miss the return-leg.

In other quarter-finals played on Friday, Sunrise beat Bugesera 2-0 at Nyagatare playground while Mukura won 1-0 over Amagaju FC at Huye Stadium.

The second-leg fixtures will be played on Monday where Amagaju host Mukura at Nyagasenyi stadium in Nyamagabe district while Bugesera take on Sunrise at Nyamata grounds.

In the last first-leg match today, Marines FC host Roberto Oliveira’s Rayon Sports at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu district – starting at 3:30pm.
