The week-long ICC World T20 Africa ‘B’ Qualifiers at Gahanga Oval came to a climax over the weekend, with Kenya and Uganda sealing the passage to the Africa qualifying showpiece.
The regional cricket tournament was contested by; Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and hosts Rwanda.
Kenya lifted the title on Saturday night in a colorful ceremony staged at Ubumwe Grand Hotel.
To qualify as the second team, Uganda defeated rivals Kenya by 7 wickets with 7 balls remaining on a Saturday – a day that was full of runs.
Both Tanzania and hosts Rwanda faced a mountain of runs in the tournament, enduring heavy defeats over the course of the week since July 8 at Gahanga Cricket Stadium.
Ugandan all-rounder, Ali Rizat Shah was named the best player of the tournament.
Kenya and Uganda will now progress to the six-nation ICC World Twenty20 Africa Qualifiers scheduled for early next year.
Nigeria and Ghana have already qualified from the West Africa region.
