Mukura Victory Sports Coach Francis Haringingo has insisted that his side’s target in the ongoing 2018 Peace Cup tournament is to lift the title as they bid to represent the country at the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Huye-based side host Amagaju in the first-leg of their quarter-final tie on July 20.

The Yellow and Black outfits have never made it to the final since 2009 when they lost 1-0 to new-defunct Atraco FC at Amahoro National Stadium.

The Burundian-born Mukura tactician, Haringingo, who is yet to establish his name among reputable coaches in Rwanda since joining the club last August, believes that it is high time for his side to finally end the Peace Cup jinx and join Rwanda’s elite clubs.

The former league giants stormed into quarter-finals after stunning AS Kigali in the last-16.

"Fortunately we will play (Amagaju) from home first, so we will make sure we use that to our advantage – in front of our fans. It will be an open play in Nyamagabe,” Haringingo said.

Mukura beat AS Kigali 2-1 in the second leg of their last 16 fixture, adding salt to AS Kigali’s injury, having defeated Eric Nshimiyimana’s side 3-2 in the first-leg.

"We are going for game by game, but, our target will remain the same. We will give our best to reach the final and win the cup. We need to play continental football next season,” he added.

Mukura have won the Peace Cup (formerly called Rwandan Cup) four times, the last one having come 26 years ago, in 1992. They had previously clinched the title in 1978, 1986 and 1990.
