DANNY Usengimana – Rwanda international striker – is set to move from Tanzania’s Singida United to APR FC ahead of the new season. Saturday Sport has learnt.

The 22-year old has been linked with return to law enforcers side but with Masudi Djuma Irambona’s Simba SC beating them on Meddie Kagere’s signing a fortnight ago, the military side immediately turned their radar to the former Police FC skipper.

The newly crowned Azam Rwanda Premier League champions – APR – were one of the frontrunners for Kagere’s services.

According to a reliable source within APR, the club and player are in advanced talks for a possible move in the next few days. The source also confirmed that APR have already paid Singida a staggering amount of Rwf 34.8M (U$D 40,000) to secure the striker’s signature.

"The player has started talks with APR and is thrilled to sign if personal terms are agreed on by both parties. The two clubs have already finalized discussions on the transfer,” the source said.

It is reported that APR are willing to pay as much as Rwf 10m for Usengimana to sign for them and earn a monthly salary of Rwf1m – with his accommodation catered for by the club.

Usengimana, who was the 2016/2017 Azam Rwanda Premier league’s Golden boot winner, signed for Singinda United on a reported fee of U$D 100,000 (about Rwf82.6 million).

Rayon Sports were also interested in Usengimana but have failed to meet his demands.

In the last three years, the celebrated forward has scored 45 goals in total, with 37 goals he netted for Police FC and 8 for Singida United in Tanzania’s Vodacom Premier League.

The record 17-time Rwandan champions are also said to be planning to release a number of underperforming players and promote a few others from the club’s academy, including young goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwali.
