AS Kigali Women FC striker Coralie Odette Elsie Eyeang Nguema says she was disappointed the day her side failed to retain the women's topflight league title this season.
The Gabon international scored 21 goals in 26 games for the Citizens this season but it was not enough as they lost the league title to rivals Rayon Sports with one game to spare.
AS Kigali WFC suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Blues in week 12 game in January and Nguema admits that the loss cost them the title.
"Personally, the season was pretty good but I'm a little disappointed that it was Rayon Sports WFC who won the title and I knew it was going to happen the day they defeated us during the 12th match day. It put us into big trouble," Nguema told Times Sport.
Now that the league title went to Rayon Sports, AS Kigali have their sights set on the Peace Cup and Nguema believes her side can make amends and win it to finish the season with at least a silverware.

"Now we have to switch our attention to the Peace Cup, we must do everything and win it. We have already won the Heroes Cup and we want to end the season with a double," the 24-year-old said.
Aside her professional football career, Nguema is also a student at University of Kigali where she is doing Bachelor's Degree in Software engineering. She has represented Gabon at U20 and U23 levels.
She joined AS Kigali WFC in 2022 from Gabonese side Altesse FC.
