Traditional music icon, Massamba Intore, and Diaspora based artiste Diane Teta, are in preparations for a live music performance in The Hague, Netherlands, at Partycentrum Zichtenburg, located in South Holland.
The concert comes after Rwanda’s embassy in the Netherlands hosted the Kwibohora24 celebration in The Hague, in order to pay tribute to Rwandan men and women, who in different ways contributed to Rwanda’s liberation.
Massamba was recently in Maputo Mozambique, where together with other Rwandan artistes performed at the ‘Rwanda Cultural Night’ that was organised to celebrate the country’s cultural heritage.
Teta, who is currently living in Sweden, posted a video on social media platforms inviting all Rwandans and friends of Rwanda to attend the concert for a pure ‘Gakondo’ experience.
"Happy Liberation day! I am thrilled to announce that I’ll be performing live on July 21st to celebrate the #LiberationDay Save that date and join us; let’s make it unforgettable,” she further posted on her Instagram, after expressing, on one of her videos, how the Liberation Day means so much to her.
The singer is well known for songs like ‘Velo’, ‘Tanga Agatego’, ‘Ndaje’, and ‘Canga ikarita’, to name a few. She has performed at Rwanda Day event in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and at the Rwanda Youth Forum in Texas, United States, and she has also performed in Sweden and Belgium, among other countries.
Meanwhile, it looks like it is not only Teta getting gigs among Rwandan artistes living abroad.
Kitoko Bibarwa, over the weekend, performed at the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF-Inkotanyi) Europe Retreat in the United Kingdom.
Kitoko, like his US-based compatriots The Ben and Meddy, has been getting a number of gigs including a few which saw him return to entertain his fans back home.
It is not only Rwandan artistes living abroad that are increasingly getting opportunities to perform. Even those at home are getting gigs to perform for their audiences abroad with the likes of Charly na Nina often heading to Europe and in African countries to hold performances.
