After winning the regular league title and the Genocide Memorial Volleyball Tournament last month, giants Gisagara are optimistic to complete a local treble with Carre d’As trophy.
This year’s Carre d’As tournament, both in men and women’s categories, will be held on July 14-15 at Amahoro National Stadium.
The two-day tourney is contested by the league’s top four teams to mark the end of the season.
While speaking to Saturday Sport on Friday, Gisagara head coach Fidele Nyirimana said his men are "fit and fired up” to bounce back from the failure to win this year’s Rutsindura Memorial Tournament a fortnight ago in Huye district.
"We’ve just started the preparations (for Carre d’As) and everyone is working hard to be in top form ahead of the tournament next week. The target is to win a domestic treble this season,” the former Rwanda international affirmed on Friday.
He added that, "Our preparations are going well so far and the mood in the team has never been better. We are going to be facing the country’s best teams, but, we are confident in our ability and determination to win when it matters most.”
The men’s Carre d’As contest includes; league champions Gisagara, Rwanda Energy group (REG), APR and the University of Tourism Technology and Business Studies, UTB.
The women’s fray is comprised of six-time reigning league champions Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), APR, Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) and Ruhango.
