A group of six Rwandan Karate players led by Japan Karate Association Rwanda (JKA-Rwanda) Director Guy Rurangayire on Monday, March 25, departed Kigali for Las Vegas, United States, where they will take part in the forthcoming 'North American Open/International Karate Tournament' scheduled for March 30-31.

The tournament is a collaboration between the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and the World Karate Federation (WUKF). A seminar led by AAU president Mirza J B for Kata (exhibition) and French Karate world champion Christophe Pinna for Kumite (fighting), has also been organized on March 29, a day before the tournament takes place.
The tournament features various categories such as children, adults, professionals, and veterans.
Representing Rwanda at the tournament are coach-player Didier Pascal Ganziteka, Fils David Niyongabo, Christian Ndayizimiye, Jean Pierre Kabango, David Murenzi, and Philémon Hagenimana.
The tournament in Las Vegas is expected to draw participants from over 20 countries across various continents.
