Last week, renowned gospel musicians Maggie Blanchard from Canada, Dena Mwana from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Burundian artiste, Fortran Bigirimana, arrived in Kigali to headline the Fragrance of Worship concert at Christian Life Assembly, and what a show it was!
Performers thrilled revellers to enchanting gospel performances at the Nyarutarama-based church on Sunday, alongside local artistes Gaby Kamanzi and Serge Iyamuremye.
Fragrance of Worship is an annual concert, organised by Bigirimana, who is currently based in France together with his family, in partnership with Moriah Entertainment Group.
The performances started off as early as 6pm with Iyamuremye, and he did some of his songs like ‘Biramvura’ and ‘Arampagije’, while sparing time for other performers. It is after him that Gabby Kamanzi took to stage and began entertaining everyone. She belted out her latest tracks ‘Yesu Arankunda’ and ‘Nzahora nshima’, to the excitement of her fans at the concert.
Bigirimana performing
Clad in white jeans and a white T-shirt with a jacket, Bigirimana straight away started singing his hits and he gave his best singing crowd favourite ‘Ndi uwawe’ and ‘Tumushime’.
Then it was time for DR Congo queen of gospel music Mwana, who gave an outstanding and heart-warming performance that even got some members of the audience dance to her Lingala song ‘Elombe’.
The night ended with Blanchard’s performance to seal off the concert.
Apostle Paul Gitwaza of Zion Temple took over the stage after the performances with the word of God.
His preaching was so powerful.
"There are many reasons why we worship. True worship is from the heart which recognises God’s mercy,” apostle Gitwaza told the congregation, adding: "God has forgiven our sins. He protects us and heals our sickness among many other things. There are so many reasons we should worship God.”
For the hundreds that managed to attend, the show was a memorable one. The show ended at 9pm.
