Kenyan champions Sofapaka have completed the signing of highly rated Rwanda international midfielder Justin Mico from Police FC on a three year deal.
Mico, who is an attacking forward, becomes the third player to be signed by "Batoto ba Mungu” in the on-going transfer window.
The 24-year versatile player can play as a striker, playmaker or midfielder.
According to reports from Kenya, the former Police FC kingpin will have to fight for a starting place against Bernard Mang’oli, Elly Asieche, Ibrahim Kitawi and Timothy Luda.
"I am delighted to sign for this club. It is a new challenge for me and I believe it is an opportunity to reach another level. I will work hard to gain the starting position and try all I can to help my new team – together with my teammates,” Justin Mico said.
Mico becomes Sofapaka’s fourth signing of the mid-season transfer window with the club having already signed Piston Mutamba from Wazito FC, Dennis Odhiambo from Thika United and Wycliffe Kasaya from Mathare. However, he’s the first foreign player to be signed.
Times Sport has learned that Mico was signed at a fee of Rwf 13M (15,000) and will earn around Rwf 1.3M (USD 1,500) monthly.
"He is a very good addition to the team because he can play virtually anywhere across the midfield. He has very good attacking play and I think he will be helpful for us in the number 10 role,” Sofapaka head coach John Baraza said.
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia have also completed the signing of Burundian forward Francis Mustafa from Rwanda’s topflight side SC Kiyovu.
