RWANDA has embarked on intensive preparations to host next month’s Zone Five Africa basketball qualifiers.

Rwanda Basketball Federation boss Fidel Rutagarama told Times Sport that the local organizing committee has kicked off preparations and that they will do everything possible to make the championship a success.

"We started the preparations last week and we hope to gather the needed requirements for the championship in time the start of the zonal qualifiers,” said Rutagarama.

According to Rutagarama, the event which is expected to attracted teams from all zone five countries will cost as estimated Frw150.

The local basketball federation has already named both the men and women’s teams and training for both has already got underway at the Amahoro indoor stadium.

Rwanda’s national teams will have their work cutout as only a place in the final will guarantee qualification for the African championship which will be held later this year.
