Let Rwanda keep left too

Dear Editor,
Since Rwanda is now part of the East African Community economic bloc, we expect more visitors from the region as restrictions on the movement of people and goods have been eased.

I therefore suggest that we also start keeping left on the road and start to drive right hand vehicles. Besides, this will reduce many road accidents—some caused as a result of mechanics trying to change right hand drive cars into left hand ones.

Remember it is extremely expensive to purchase a left-hand drive car, as the price is three times more than a right hand one. We should forget those still bent on left hand driving.

They should know that that Rwandan does not manufacture any cars, so we import these left-hand vehicles from Europe when Japanese cars are available in neighbouring countries at affordable prices.

I hope that this request meets government’s consideration.
