The former Etincelles, SC Kiyovu and Mukura forward opened the scoring in the 41st minute, putting to good use a wonderful assist from winger Jean Claude Iranzi before completing his double of the night in the 73rd minute.
Burundian playmaker Pierrot Kwizera scored the consolation goal for the visitors in the 75th minute, resulting from goalie Yves Kimenyi’s failure to clear the curling ball in the box.
The double for Rwanda international Hakizimana, made it ten league goals on his name for the military side this season, making him the club’s leading scorer in the 2017/2018 campaign.
After collecting the crucial three points against the bitter rivals yesterday, the 16-time champions edged closer to a record-extending 17th title. Thanks to AS Kigali’s shocking 1-0 upset at the hands of struggling Kirehe FC.
The military side leads the table standings with 54 points, three ahead of second-placed AS Kigali and nine ahead of the reigning champions – Rayon Sports.
SC Kiyovu who complete top four with 43 points, shared goalless spoils with Bugesera FC.
Hakizimana hails from a footballing family that also birthed APR legend Abdul Sibomana and Amavubi skipper Haruna Niyonzima. The 23-year old is the last born of the three brothers.
