Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee, RNOSC, elective general assembly will convene today at Lemigo Hotel, to elect a new Secretary General.
The incoming secretary to assume office today after the polls, will be replacing Dominique Bizimana who resigned in March – for personal reasons.
According to the RNOSC Executive Director Jean de Dieu Mukundiyukuri, Alexis Sharangabo is the sole shortlisted candidate for the position. He represent the triathlon federation.
The retired middle distance runner, Sharangabo represented Rwanda twice at the Olympics Games, in men’s 1,500 metres category – in 1996 in the United States and 2000 in Australia.
Sharangabo, 39, also represented the country in various other global competitions such as; the 1994 Jeux de la Francophonie in France, the 1994 IAAF World Junior Championships in Portugal and the 1999 All Africa Games in South Africa, to mention but a few.
The former Nyamata Athletics Club president currently serves as the RNOSC commissioner in athletics.
