RWANDA’s duo of strikers Meddie Kagere and Jacques Tuyisenge are set for a historic opportunity to play against English Premier League side Everton away at Goodison Park next month, after easing past Tanzania’s Simba SC over the weekend.

Kenyan champions, Gor Mahia, completed a double against Simba SC to book a second date with Everton after a 2-0 in the SportPesa Super Cup final on Sunday.

Kagere and compatriot Tuyisenge did the damage with a goal in either half to hand K’Ogalo the bragging rights and a ticket to England to face the Toffees.

The last time the two sides from East Africa region met was 37 years ago at City Stadium where K’Ogalo piped Simba by a solitary goal in the regional Cecafa club championship.

Kagere put Gor into the lead with his fourth goal of the tournament from a strong left-foot shot that rendered the ball too heavy for Simba custodian Aishi Manula.

Just ten minutes into the second half, midfielder Francis Kahata supplied the ball in the box that seemed outbound but Tuyisenge stretched full length to guide the ball into the net.

Speaking to Times Sport in a telephone interview from Kenya on Tuesday, Tuyisenge said: "I can’t wait, everyone on the team can’t wait to play against Everton. It will be a historic rematch at Goodison Park. They beat us 2-1 last year but we want to do better this time.”

Tuyisenge, a former Police FC forward, won the golden boot, having scored 4 goals in the competition.

Ugandan-born Kagere joined Kenyan giants Gor Mahia on a one year deal in 2015 before securing a contract extension after a stellar season and helping the club to the league title.

He has been capped 26 times by Amavubi and has nine international goals.

Meanwhile, teammate Tuyisenge joined Gor in February 2016 for a reported transfer fee of US$ 40,000 (about Rwf30 million) after captaining Amavubi to quarter-finals of the 4th African Nations Championship staged in Rwanda.
