Marines Vs Kiyovu
Yves Rwasamanzi, the head coach of Marines FC, has warned SC Kiyovu that his side will come out looking for maximum points when the two teams faceoff this afternoon in a match-day 25 league clash at Umuganda Stadium.
Going into today’s encounter, struggling Marines FC are in 14th position with 27 points and a win today would see them jump to 11th spot.
On the other hand, Andre Casa Mbungo’s SC Kiyovu, will be eyeing to dislodge Etincelles from the fourth position. Should they win today, they will reclaim the fourth position and move within one point of third-placed Rayon Sports.
While talking to Saturday Sport on Friday, Marines FC coach Rwasamanzi said his relegation-threatened side are optimistic to bounce back from AS Kigali’s 1-0 defeat, and his players are inspired to make the most of home advantage this afternoon.
"It is a game that means a lot to us, especially at this particular point when we are fighting to stay in the topflight league. Thankfully, we are playing at home, it’s a must-win game for us,” the former SC Kiyovu and APR head coach said yesterday.
Rayon, all but out of the title race
It may look a little too early to rule out the champions Rayon Sports but it is safe to say that Ivan Minneart’s side stand no chance to retain the Azam Rwanda Premier League title.
After a 1-all draw against Police last week and a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Amagaju on Monday, Rayon suffered another draw (0-0) yesterday, making it their ninth league draw this season.
The hosts, Musanze, had three clear chances to win all the three points but forwards Bokota Labama, Suleiman Mudeyi and Peter Otema were denied by goalie Kassim Ndayisenga.
The visitors could have also won the game through Hussein ‘Tchabalala’ Shaban, Pierrot Kwizera (twice) and Ismaila Diarra but they were all too wasteful.
