Today Musanze Vs Rayon Sports

Defending champions Rayon Sports will this afternoon face Musanze in a rescheduled league match at Ubworoherane Stadium, seeking to close gap on leaders AS Kigali and second-placed APR.

The Blues were upset by lowly Amagaju in a 2-1 defeat on Tuesday and will be looking to bounce back with an away victory that would see them move within three points of archrivals APR.

Going into today’s match, Ivan Minneart’s side are in third place with 44 points, six adrift of Ljubomir 'Ljupko' Petrovic’s APR. AS Kigali top the table standings with 51 points while Etincelles are fourth with 41 points.

Speaking  to Times Sportyesterday, Rayon Sports’ Belgian coach Minneart admitted that his side played ‘very poorly’ against Amagaju but, "there is some catch up to do, we have to remain focused.”

"It will be a very difficult game for us to get the three points, we will have to very efficient up-front and vigilant in the defence,” the former Mukura VS coach said.

Dressing room unrest

Asked about the prospects of retaining their title this season, he said: "We are not giving up – just yet.”

Nonetheless, the game comes at a time there are growing reports of dressing room unrest with several players said to be plotting Minneart’s departure only months after he replaced Olivier Karekezi as head coach.

On the other hand, tenth-placed Musanze will have their sights set on the eighth position when they host the reigning champions. With a 27-point tally, three more points would see Innocent Seninga’s reds jump to 8th spot.
