RAYON Sports have been drawn alongside Kenyan giants Gor Mahia of Kenya, Lydia Ludic of Burundi and Djibouti’s Ports in Group B of the upcoming CECAFA Kagame Cup 2018 – slated for June 28 to July 12 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The Blues were handed the three group rivals following draw results that were released on Tuesday morning from Dar es Salaam.

The Rwandan champions will face Gor Mahia in the opening match on June 30, face Ports on July 3 before wrapping up group stages with Burundian side Lydia Ludic on July 4.

This is the second time that Rayon are drawn in the same pool with Gor Mahia, in a spell of only two months. The two sides also belong to Group D in the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup. They played out a 1-all draw in their first-leg encounter on May 6 in Kigali.

On the other hand, Rayon will also be facing Burundi’s Lydia Ludic for a second time this year after sending them packing 2-1, in the preliminaries of CAF Champions League, in February.

Group A is comprised of defending champions Azam FC of Tanzania, KCCA from Uganda, JKU representing Zanzibar and South Sudan’s Katora FC, while Group C includes; Tanzanian giants Simba SC and Young Africans, St George of Ethiopia as well as Somalia’s Dakadaha.

Azam FC won the 2015 Cecafa Kagame Cup after beating Kenya’s Gor Mahia 2-0 in the final. Djibouti was initially designated to host this year’s edition but it is understood that the tournament’s broadcasting partner, Azam TV, influenced the change for security reasons.
