It will be a clash of neighbors as Etincelles and Marines tussle it out in the Azam Rwanda Premier League clash this afternoon at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu district.

Ahead of today’s much anticipated Western Derby, Etincelles are in sixth position with 38 points, three adrift of fourth-placed SC Kiyovu. Marines are 13th of the 16-team league table, with 24 points from 23 games played.

Should the hosts, Etincelles, win today, they will move into the top four for the first time this season, with 41 points, while a victory for Yves Rwasamanzi’s military side will take them to 10th position, one point behind eighth placed Sunrise FC.

"We have the ability to get the three points, which are very crucial in our pursuit for a top four finish. It’s a derby against Marines, always a tricky encounter but the boys are ready and fit to fight,” Etincelles coach Emmanuel Ruremesha told Sunday Sport.

In a separate interview, Marines head coach Yves Rwasamanzi said, "We are a good team with good players, I have confidence in my boys. We simply need to be vigilant and avoid unnecessary costly mistakes on Sunday. We are targeting the three points.”

Since 2009, the Rubavu-based league rivals have met 16 times in the league with each side winning five times and drawing six of their encounters.
