Game 1 APR vs RRA 3pm Third place, Game 1 KVC vs Ruhango 11am
APR face reigning champions Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) this afternoon in Game 1 of the best-of-three finals series of the women’s national volleyball league at Petit Stade Remera.
The military side stormed the finals after denying Ruhango in semi-finals while giants RRA brushed aside debutants Kigali Volleyball Club in the round of last four.
In Game 1 of the third place playoff, KVC take on Ruhango this morning at the same venue.
APR have not won the championship since 2012 and head coach Alex Nkuranga said he’s confident they will win it this year.
"It has been a long time without major silverware, the time for a new chapter is now. RRA is a strong team, but we are not dark horses either. We will do everything possible to claim the crown,” Nkuranga told Saturday Sport on Friday.
APR and RRA have faced each other twice this season, each side winning one game. APR claimed the first match in a five-set thriller before RRA returned the favour to take the second in four sets.
In the men’s category, defending champions Gisagara will face Rwanda Energy Group in Game 2 of the finals series on June 16. The former won Game 1 in four sets, at Gisagara gymnasium..
