Rugby league starts next month

The National rugby league kicks off next month, Rwanda Rugby Federation has confirmed. The development was reached upon during the federation’s annual general assembly that sat last weekend at Amahoro stadium and presided over by the federation president Alexis Kamanzi.

The National rugby league kicks off next month, Rwanda Rugby Federation has confirmed. The development was reached upon during the federation’s annual general assembly that sat last weekend at Amahoro stadium and presided over by the federation president Alexis Kamanzi.

The league is set to start in late February and seven clubs have confirmed their participation. They include; Remera Buffaloes, Gorilla, Sharks, Grizzlies, Tigers, Simba, Lion de Fer and Puma.

The Remera Buffaloes are the defending champions from last season. Tigers and Gorilla claimed the second and third positions respectively.

Among other issues discussed during the general assembly was evaluation of last activities as well as the programmes for this year.

Among the targets the members set themselves to achieve include; acquiring the legal statute of the federation, promoting rugby schools.

RGF president, Kamanzi used the occasion to caution clubs to take extra care of the uniforms donated last year by league sponsors, BCR.
