AS Kigali 4-0 Bugesera
AS Kigali recovered from Tuesday’s 4-1 defeat to SC Kiyovu to sink Bugesera 4-0 on Friday at Kigali Stadium.
The hosts controlled the game from start to finish.
Ugandan striker Flank Kalanda got his name on the score-sheet twice, in the 28th and 69th minute, while the other two goals came from Jimmy Kibengo Mashengirwa in the 31st minute and the league’s leading scorer Jean Claude Ndarusanze in the 45th minute.
Following the massive win over struggling Bugesera, Eric Nshimiyimana’s side stayed second on the log but narrowed the gap to the top to two points.
APR lead the table with 50 points, two ahead of AS Kigali who have however played one game less.
"We were the better side today; it was a well-deserved victory. The defeat to Kiyovu taught us a lesson, which was crucial to how we prepared for this game,” former Rwanda international Nshimiyimana told Saturday Sport in a spot-match interview.
AS Kigali’s striker Ndarusanze leads the chase for top-scorers award with 13 goals, followed by Alex Orotomal of Sunrise and Wai Yeka of Musanze with 10 goals apiece, while Police FC’s Isaie Songo is fourth on the list with nine goals.
