Dear Editor,
I would like to thank all women of Rwanda for being the leading example of women empowerment.

For sure we have made news worldwide I whenever I travel and proudly say I am Rwandan, it is no longer the genocide story, but a fast growing Rwanda with majority female representation in parliament.

This is good but a lot still has to be done. As women, we still have the least percentage of economic participation. Socially, there is also a strong need to continue fighting for our rights.

As Rwanda joined other countries to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration for Human Rights, experts noted that most Rwandan women and children are still deprived of their rights.

Domestic violence also still prevails. It is therefore up to us to stand tall and fight for our rights such that we can be representatives of empowerment as well.

We also need to increase our participation economically. Let this be one of our goals this year, together, we can contribute to our nation’s development.
