As we celebrate motherhood today and appreciate the love that mothers tirelessly continue to give, L&H (Love and Hands services), a startup that encourages people to do something special for loved ones and help them buy gifts, deliver them and organise small events began campaign called #ShowYouKeya where Rwandans on Twitter were asked to share the best advice they have ever received from their mothers in celebration of mother’s day. Sunday Magazine’s Sharon Kantengwa looks at some of the responses from the many people who shared advices from their mothers and how they intend to honor their mothers.
Marc Gwamaka @tmarcg I appreciate every advice that my mum gave me however the one that I will always carry with me is, "Love God, Love people, Tithe 10%, Save 10%, give to people and use the rest as you please.” -----
Huios Regis @HuiosRegis My mother told me, "to not be so hard on myself, but to always take responsibility for my actions, and to never worry about meeting someone’s expectations, but that I should grow to meet mine, to better myself.” If all the special joys in life; the big ones and the small, your love is the greatest of them all. There is no blessing so dear as a mom like you, to love your son year after year. You’re my mother, I would have no other. All this while I was complaining about having nothing, when in a mom like you, I had everything I could ever ask for. Thanks ma. Thank you for setting an example for me and proving that pain is temporary. You truly are the strongest person I know and I wouldn’t change that for the world…one day maybe I’ll be as strong as you. Mom, I’ll try to live a life that will do justice to all the sacrifices you’ve made. But mainly, thank you for loving me more than anything in the world. Thank you for being my hero. My rock. My mother. That is something that can never be replaced. -----
Jackie Lumbasi @jackielumbasi Mum always said, "If you ever think of throwing away food, pause and think of someone who could be wishing they had just a fraction of that.” I will send her some little money to go have lunch with her husband. In the past I have not done anything for her as an individual although we have always come together as children to do things that would benefit both parents, this includes organizing a wedding for them eight years ago and building for them a house. As children the parents have always been our priority. -----
Sandrine Karemera @karemerasandie She always said, "Be thankful for what you have. You have no idea how many people would love to have a piece of what you got.” This Mother’s Day I have a small gift for her. My message to her is that I love her so much, having her in my life is a gift that I do not take for granted because everyone has a chance to have one. I promise that I will never be a disappointment, I’m work in progress. -----

Alicia Mugabo Atete @Alicia_wicia "Whenever you have to make a choice, don’t choose the one that looks or sounds better if even one of its cons outweighs its many pros”.
