This weekend, Kenya’s top award winning, DJ Joe Mfalme will step onto the stage as the headline act of the second edition of Prime Saturdays.
The show, which will be held on Saturday, at JJ Club, Park Inn in Kiyovu, will also see NEP DJs, a duo of young Rwandan DJs Habz and Berto, spinning to take their fans on a music experience.
Mfalme is the winner of the 2010 Pilsner Mfalme Hottest Media DJ. He also won the 2013 African Global DJ Award and 2014 Bingwa DJ of the Year. His other accolades include 2014 Stylus Overall DJ of the year, 2015 Brand DJ of the Year, 2015 Stylus Radio DJ of the Year and Bingwa East Africa DJ of the Year in 2016.
The 31-year-old disc jockey is commended for his ability to blend elements of several music genres from Ragga, Dancehall, Crunk to Ol’Skul hip Hop, and has received positive reviews from music fans.
Prime Saturdays is a theme night held every three months in Kigali, featuring both local and renowned deejays in the region. The first edition took place on December 9, last year, with Kenya’s high flying entertainer DJ Crème as the main performer.
VJ Nano, the organiser of Prime Saturdays, said: "We started with deejays from East Africa and we shall eventually spread to other African countries.”
"This time we brought DJ Mfalme a renowned and award winning deejay because he is a perfect example for upcoming deejays and professional deejays look up to him,” he added.
The show starts at 9pm. Early-birds will enter for free but those, who will come after midnight will part with Rwf5, 000 per person.
