Mukura 0-0 Rayon Sport
Gicumbi 2-1 Bugesera
Amagaju 2-1 Musanze
Azam Rwanda Premier League defending champions Rayon Sports saw their title hopes continue to fade away after they were held to a goalless draw by Mukura at Huye Stadiumon Wednesday afternoon.
Ivan Minneart’s team dropped points for the second time in a row after another disappointing 1-1 draw with Kirehe a week ago.
"It is a disappointing result because we want to win. We had two or three chances to win but we missed that killer character. We have to improve especially in the league because we have dropped four points in two games which is not fine,” Mineart said.
The Blues remain third in the table with 36 points but the gap increased to five points between them and leaders AS Kigali and four points behind rivals APR who are playing Kirehe today.
APR are in second place on the league table.
In today’s fixtures, a win for AS Kigali against Sunrise in Nyagatare District will increase the gap to eight points.
During their encounter with Mukura VC, Rayon Sports only created four chances through Ismaila Diarra, Chris Mbondi and Kevin Muhire but none of them was converted.
However, Mukura dominated the game and created a number of chances through Kevin Hakizimana, Rachid Mutebi, Frank Lomami and Hussein Cyisa but all were saved by, goalie Eric Ndayishimiye.
"We dominated the game from the start to end but we failed to win. We were unlucky in the final third of the game. It is good to draw against champions but we need to look on how we can score goals. We really dominated them” Mukura head coach, Francis Haringingo said.
Good news for Rayon Sports is that central defender, Abdul Rwatubyaye who was Rayon Sports’ captain yesterday returned after a 15 months spell on the sidelines due to injury.
Mukura are in 9th position with 24 points and this was their 12 draw of the season.
