Gorilla FC right-back Samuel Nsengiyumva has said that his call up to the Amavubi squad for this month's FIFA international friendlies against Madagascar and Botswana is a dream come true.

The defender, who first represented Rwanda in the U23 team, has been one of outstanding players whose fine exploits at club level caught the attention of Frank Torsten Spittler, hence rewarding him a callup in the senior national squad preparing for international friendlies with Madagascar and Botswana.

"I am so excited about my first Amavubi call up. I have worked for this all these years. The dream of every player is to play for his national team and I am extremely pleased I have got my chance," Nsengiyumva told Times Sport.

The youngster further reiterated that he is not there to just make up the numbers and is now ready to repay the confidence that coach Torsten Spittler and his technical team showed him.

" I have to show the coaches that what they have seen in me is no fluke. I want to prove to the head coach [Spittler] that he was not wrong by giving me the chance and showing confidence in me. I will give my 100 percent so that we get success,” he said.

Nsengiyumva, 20, previously played for Nyamata Stars at youth level in 2019 before Gorilla FC scouted and signed him when they were playing second tier football.
